Park City Mountain Resort, UT

My first winter after high school I was determined to be a ski bum.  A friend of mine had worked at Park City the year before and assured me that she could get me a job, so I packed up in early November and moved south.  That year turned out to be quite an adventure - in more ways than one.  I skied five days a week and had some incredible pow days skiing the greatest snow on earth.  I had a great time, but fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it :) I learned that there is more to life than skiing.  Not much more mind you, but there is a little more...

About seven years passed before I skied at Park City again.  They had removed the old gondola (it's REEBAAAAA!!), but added three more high-speed 6-packs and expanded into McConkey's Bowl toward Deer Valley.  My last winter at BYU, Scott, Ryan, Tyler, and I all got season passes and enjoyed one last season together.  I love skiing.  I don't want to get too philosophical here, but there isn't another place on this planet where I feel so full of life and confident as I do when I'm sliding down a snow-covered hill with sticks strapped to my feet.  Getting away from the smog and noise of the valley and driving up into the hills with your best friends, anticipating what last night's storm brought.  It gives me chills sitting here in the desert.  Can you imagine what Heaven is going to be like?  Fresh snow every morning, soft powder bumps every afternoon, and knees that can go on forever...

Ryan and I drove up to Logan, UT to attend the Warren Miller Movie in October of 2005.  They were also showing it at BYU, just a few blocks from where we lived, but the Logan showing (2 1/2 hours away) included free lift tickets to the Canyons.  Mom got tickets for everybody, so we had a good showing.  Uncle Andy from Texas was in town visiting Grandma and he even came to it.  Ryan and Scott both managed to get a few extra free passes by entering the theater several times.  I'm glad we got the tickets, because the movie was horrible.  Below are the pictures from our family's ski day at the Canyons; Angela even had a good time!!
